Owned by the same family as Quinta de Valbom winery in the Duoro region of Portugal, Herdade dos Grous is located in Portugal’s Alentejo region. Winemaker Luis Duarte, named 3 times ‘Best Winemaker in Portugal’ and ‘Best Winemaker in the World’ by German magazine Der Feinschemecker, is also recognized for creating sustainable wines while still upholding the traditional Portuguese winemaking methods. He is joined by talented young woman winemaker Mafalda Vasques to make a passionate and strong winemaking team.

Herdade dos Grous was the first winery to achieve certification under the Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program, or WASP. All hand harvested grapes most of which are native to Portugal, Herdade dos Grous’ mission is to produce sustainably , protecting the environment , promoting the well being of employees and benefiting the local community.

Herdade dos Grous is in the Alentejo region of Portugal, south of their sister winery Quinta de Valbom in the Duoro region of Portgual. Alentejo is also known as “Portugal’s Breadbasket” due to the large about of agriculture and rich fertile soil that fill the landscape which is dotted with fields and vineyards and olive groves.

This vegan Portuguese white wine is a blend of grapes native to Portugal. With a bright color and balanced fruit and acidity, it is an elegant and enjoyable wine. A blend of native portuguese varieties, the main variety present, Antão Vaz, is the most popular grape in the Alentejo region brings body and aromatic qualities. To balance and add acidity, Arinto grape, which also brings a nice minerality, and Gouveio, a grape like verdejo in Spain, which adds ‘salt and pepper’ aromatics are blended in.

Herdado dos Grous winemaker Luis Duarte has been named as ‘Best Winemaker in Portugal’ by the press, and ‘Best Winemaker in the World’ by German magazine Der Feinschemecker, and Herdade dos Grous was the first to be certified under the Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program (WASP).
